About Kate
Kate Leake is an award-winning author and illustrator. Her books have been read on CBeebies by the likes of Mark Lawrenson and Floella Benjamin.
She spends her days happily scribbling away in her studio, Planet Pencil, illustrating lovely children's books and designing greetings cards. Her work features a combination of hand drawn and digital techniques, with a quirky, humorous style and a great attention to detail.
Kate often gets asked to work on other exciting projects like family portraits and bespoke projects - ranging from wedding invitations to illustrating an entire library van!
She studied Illustration for Children's Publishing at Glyndwr University and graduated in 2004 with a first class BA Hons.
When not busy doodling, Kate likes
playing her saxophone, going for lovely long walks and baking tasty cakes.
Kate lives with her super brainy husband, Alan, who knows a lot more about the ionosphere than she does!
